Haro!Promageddon: Let The Salt Flow! - Hello! Project Group Member Additions!

*I did not coin the term 'Haro!Promageddon; someone on Twitter did, thank them, they are a genius. I have no clue who created the term, however XD

After the shock announcement that Hello! Project would essentially dissolve Country Girls after the graduation of Tsugunaga Momoko, and that both Yamaki Risa and Ozeki Mai would become part-time members of H!P to focus on school (a decision that wasn't theirs, from what Risa's blog post tells), it was then revealed that the remaining members (bankable loli's) would all be entrusted to other groups, and continue activities within CG during school breaks and holidays.

It was also announced that Hello! Project Kenshuusei Danbara Ruru, Ichioka Reina and Kawamura Ayano would make their debut, too, much to the delight of the fans.

And today, on June 26th 2017, the group placements have been announced! Be prepared, dear readers and fellow Idol lovers, because the salt levels are high, and not just from my on-going saltiness at CG's near-disbandment... ¬.¬

From the video we were given today, all members in question, and the leaders who represent the new units they will be under, met for the first time to see just who would be where. It's a similar scenario that we have seen previously, and it allows us fan to watch how other members react to newbies joining their respective groups. It can be super sweet and heartfelt, and I love seeing just what everyone says and how they greet the new members who will become a part of their legacy.

This time, however, something seemed a bit off. Watching it was definitely heart-pounding, and Twitter set me up for the excitement that would be finding out who goes where. More-so, I was excited to see where the three Kenshuusei would end up, because of them all, they are the girls who are going to finally debut and shine on stage!

With Morito Chisaki, Yamagawa Nanami and Funaki Musubu, however, I was a little more wary. I mean, these girls were already in groups, and have already shown themselves to be really cute, hyperactive young girls who have expressed themselves in a way that is so very Country Girls. It's going to be weird to see them elsewhere, and I admit, even after sitting for so many hours on this information and processing it all, I'm still unsure, at least on two of them.

I'm also still super salty about CG, but, this is how H!P want to go. So! It's time to check out who goes where, and my thoughts on it. Whether you like what I say or not, I really don't give a fig, but it's time to share! Let's talk H!P, and bitch and whine as we please. On we go~

The audition process itself will run from now until mid-August this year. Applications are open until July 10th, and from July 15th, the first review will go underway. The final part of the audition process, which will include the final review for potential members, will happen in mid-August this year, and then the new members will be chosen,a nd make their debut as Apprentices!

[Music Selection] May '17

After writing so many music and video reviews based around ℃-ute, it's time to kick back, and listen to something else! From the month of May, what sort of tracks have I listened to, and what do I hope to tune into for the future of June? It's time to enjoy the music, and celebrate our Idols! Are you ready to hear something refreshing from May 2017?

It's time to listen to what our darling Idols have delivered for us from May '17! As per the typical, all songs listed here were chosen by yours truly! As this is a solo blog project, everything is subjective to my tastes! So, if there there are a few songs missing that you enjoyed, or if there is something here you dislike, please do remember, I either did not like it myself, or never heard it! One person can't listen to everything, sadly! I'd need all the time in the world!

Also, my tastes are 100% my own! I do not, and will not, expect anyone else to enjoy what I like! You have the freedom to enjoy your own music, and if what I like does not fit your style, then so be it! I am simply sharing what I enjoy, so that I can expand musical tastes, and invite you all into this wonderful world of Idols, and all the music that they provide!

Thank you, and now, it's time to sit back, and listen ! Are you ready to press play, and fall into this world of Idols?

The Curse Of A Princess! Houkago Princess Transform Into Swans For 'Sayonara Duarena'!

On July 19th 2017, Houkago Princess will once again transform for their up-coming single release, Syaonara Duarena! This time, fans will enter the world of ballet, and experience the tale of a Princess who is cursed to turn into a swan...

After announcing trhe departures of Horii Nina and Tanaka Asami, as well as Michishige Saho's study break, Universal Music and Houkago Princess staff announced the up-coming release of Sayonara Duarena, which will be their sixth major single release, and 13th overall. This time, the members will transform into Princess Odette, an iconic figure in ballet who is known for being cursed to live as both a human and a swan.

The leading track will tell the story of a girl who is suffering with conflicting feelings, and the use of Duarena in the title, which has been coined to mean 'duality' and 'ballerina', fits the idea of the song perfectly. The members' costumes have also been designed to enhance this idea of duality, whilst also representing the characters of Odette and Odile from the ballet. Staff have claimed that the work of Sayonara Duarena will delicately represent the struggles of finding true love. Maika will lead the track, as the single will come out just after her birthday.

Team ℃-ute, ありがとう。

Today on June 12th at 6pm JST, ℃-ute held their final performance at Saitama Super Arena. There, they performed for three hours and 10 minutes, finally closing the set at 9:10pm, where they took their final bows and waved goodbye to all of their beloved fans. It was a concert filled with happiness, tears and memories of ℃-ute, and it will be something for us to look back upon fondly when we want to remember the perseverance and delight of ℃-ute, and the amazing group that they became at the end of their journey.

The Final Appreciation Post - Goodbye, ℃-ute.

Before their Graduation tomorrow on June 12th, 2017, let's leave one last message for ℃-ute in a final Appreciation post. It's time to show them our thanks, and deliver our love in as many words as we can before they leave our world, and stop playing their wonderful music...

After 15 years of hard work and dedication, it is time to say goodbye. It's going to be hard, because for so many years this group has graced us with their music, hard work and dedication to the Idol industry, and have faced so many ups and downs, but no matter what, stayed strong and shown us their positive attitudes and brave faces. No matter what was thrown at them, ℃-ute always stood tall and tried their best to show us just how wonderful they are.

Ever since their career as five began, I followed the group as best I could. In the beginning, they were my #2 group in Hello! Project, just after Morning Musume, and even though I have had my own ups and downs with ℃-ute, they have always found a way to entertain me. From their music to their videos, this group has always delivered something that many fans would deem as 'amazing' or 'beautiful', and for so long, they have captured the hearts of many, keeping a firm fanbase and constantly thanking the fans for their support.

I am so glad that, coming into the realm of Idols, I was able to find such a positive, energetic group filled with so many wonderful members.

Hagiwara Mai - The Graduation Appreciation Post

And so we come to the final solo member Graduation Appreciation Post. It is the last goodbye I can give to this member as she stands, so before she departs, I want to take my time and give my thoughts and feelings on her here. Let's share the good times and the memories, and look back with fondness, just before the memories cloud our eyes and spill down our cheeks...

Hagiwara Mai has never really been my favourite, however, I liked her a little more than other people have in the past. Though she may look a little salty in contrast to the other members, and her vocals ridiculed (at least in the Western fandom), I have liked Mai, on more than one occasion. In the past, I thought she was adorable and sweet. Right now, I think that she is a growing young woman, one who is trying her hardest to show that she isn't the little girl we once knew her has.

She mas matured since the early days of ℃-ute, and though she doesn't always look as womanly or even as charming as the other members, there is something about Mai that is likeable. She has her own brand of loveliness, and regardless of how popular she is (or, not), I think that she brings something to the group, and makes it the ℃-ute that we know and love today!

Without Hagiwara Mai, ℃-ute would not be the fun, diverse group that it is. Much like all the other members, Mai is a wonderful addition, and the other four members would not be complete without her.

Okai Chisato - The Graduation Appreciation Post

The hardest Graduation Appreciation Post to write, is always the one that focuses on a cherished member. This is the final goodbye that I do not want to write, but because the day pf this wonderful groups graduation is upon us, it is finally time to say my departing words. Before the stage light fades and she bows out, let's appreciate our dear Idol to the fullest...

I started crying the moment I placed a picture onto this empty post. No words were written, just an image of Chissa and her energetic expression. Out of all the posts thus far, this one will be the hardest to write, because it goes without saying that, of all the members within ℃-ute, Okai Chisato is my favourite. From the very beginning, she was the one I wanted to follow, and for such a long time, she was the sole member I adored. She made the group shine, in my eyes.

Chissa is my ℃-utie rock, and no matter what ups and downs I have had with Hello! Pro or ℃-ute, she has, and always will be, my favourite member. Nothing can change that, and in my mind, no one will ever replace her. She is one of a kind, and will forever hold a place in my heart as one of my original 'Oshimem's'.

Suzuki Airi - The Graduation Appreciation Post

The Graduation Appreciation Posts continue, and as we approach ever closer to the graduation day, let's sit down and appreciate everything about the Idols we love. Though this beloved Idol will be leaving us for greener pastures soon, let's cherish our final moments with her, and remember the good times. Remember to smile, everyone...

Suzuki Airi is everyone's Idol. She is basically *the* idol of Hello! Project, maybe even the whole Idol world, if you wanted to start a fight. For so long, she has been the apple of our eyes, and has been the darling of Up-Front for as long as I can remember, because Suzuki Airi is absolutely amazing. Nobody can - and nobody should even try to - deny it.

From day one, Suzuki Airi has been an incredible force of nature. Not only is she adorable and beautiful, but she is also incredibly talented, and by far Hello! Project's most seasoned, recognisable member. Of all the groups and members within the umbrella company, Airi is definitely the one that everyone knows, even if they aren't fans of H!P or any groups within it. And, though I have never been a big follower of the popular members (I am an underdog supporter, guys), I 100% understand why Airi is the face of H!P, and why she surpasses everyone else in popularity; because she is talented, and because she is amazing. You really can't say that her popularity is just because Up-Front pushed her a lot.

Airi deserves all the recognition she gets.

Nakajima Saki -The Graduation Appreciation Post

Today we continue the Graduation Appreciation Posts, a post where I sit and write my final goodbyes to the Idol(s) and groups in question. Before they let the curtains fall and give their final bow, let's take a moment to look back, remember the good times, and appreciate all that this Idol has given us...

Nakajima Saki has always been 'cute' to me. She is an adorable girl, someone who doesn't seem to age, and who has a very innocent look about her. But she is also incredible, an amazing dancer who has inspired others and proven that there is more to her than just a baby-faced beauty. Surprisingly, she is also one of the most senior members of Hello! Project, as well as the sub-leader for ℃-ute. I think that, if you were to ever look at Nakky for the first time, you would not think that she was one of H!P's best dancers, or that she was 23 years old. You would probably just think 'wow, she's adorable!'.

And she is, it's one of the reasons I like her, but there is so much more to this girl than meets the eye, and that's another thing I love that about Nakky. She is really not what you would expect, upon first sight.

Yajima Maimi - The Graduation Appreciation Post

Here begins the Graduation Appreciation posts, where I sit and write about the Idol(s) in question graduating. This is one of my final goodbyes, so let's sit down, take a trip down memory lane, and remember the good times this Idol has brought us all...

It is universally known within the world of Idols and Western fans that I, Chiima, am not the biggest fan of Yajima Maimi. Of course, I appreciate what she has given to our world of Idols, music and happiness; I'm not blind, nor am I ignorant, however I will not go out of my way to say that she is my #1 member of the group that will be graduating from our lives soon. It is my attitude towards her (she can't sing, she sounds bad, etc.) that has earned me a few glares, and caused some quarrels. Nevertheless, that was (and to a degree, is) my opinion, and I won't quickly turn around and say she's a fantastic singer, just because she is leaving.

That said, I can't deny that my attitude has changed since the early days. Of course, I still stand by my opinion that Maimi is not a great singer, however, she has grown as one these past few years. Gone are the days she sounds like a bland, nasally Idol. Plus, ever since going to the concert and fan meet in Paris, my opinion of her did heighten, but again, it won't drastically change, either. I'm a stubborn old fool, me.

But, looking back at Maimi and the days where I was an early Idol fan, there are definitely bittersweet memories. Over the course of this past week, through reviews and music, I have come to appreciate Maimi even more than before. I think it's something that happens a lot to me, just before an Idol graduates a group I like(d); I realise just how great the Idol or group was, even if I didn't necessarily like them, and begin to realise just what I have missed out on. In a way, it happened with Maimi, because... Maimi?

Let's just say, I know for sure that, deep down, I will miss her.

[℃-utie Week] And Then The Disc Stops Spinning... ℃-ute's '℃OMPLETE SINGLE COLLECTION Disc 6' Rare Tracks REVIEW!

*[℃-utie Week] is a small, week-long series dedicated to the group that is ℃-ute, to commemorate one of Hello! Projects longest standing units before the members graduate and disband to find their own paths in life. Here, the aim is to cherish and appreciate the joy that ℃-ute has brought to us fans, all in the form of reviews and appreciation posts! So, to celebrate ℃-ute in all their glory before they go, let's look back at some of their releases, and enjoy all that made us love this wonderful group, and think back to why we became fans in the first place. Before the departure of ℃-ute falls upon us, let's enjoy the little time we have left with them, and fall in love all over again!

The final post for [℃-utie Week]  is here, which means we are even closer to the final performance from our beloved ℃-ute, who will disband and part ways this June 12th. But we still have well over a week to go, so until that time comes, we will continue to cherish and enjoy the music and visions of ℃-ute!

Before they go, let's enjoy the rare gems that have been collected together for our listening pleasure! Are you ready to listen to one more ℃-utie Disc from their very last release?

I could have easily reviewed the groups final single release, however, as I only recently reviewed it for Selective Hearing, I thought that would be cheating a little bit. So, when asking my friend, Angel, what I should do, she suggested that I listen to and review Disc 6 from ℃-ute's ℃OMPLETE SINGLE COLLECTION. So today, this is what I will be reviewing!

Because I actually haven't taken the time to listen to the album yet, this will be my first time experiencing some of the songs on this track list. So, we will be looking at a few releases from the past, and a few from the present, and throughout this post I will see what I enjoy, and what I am not as keen on. But, come on! It's ℃-ute; there is very little they can do to disappoint, at this point.

And as a quick note, on the Western Wota grapevine, I heard that there was some backlash with this release from a few fans. When it was revealed that the group would be releasing three new tracks within the entire collection, many fans voiced their annoyance, because Berryz Kobou only received the one song, Love Together. And, at that, I say hush the fuck up, because Berryz received a music video along with that song, as well as three re-recordings. I think the only re-recording ℃-ute have, is Gamusha LIFE, but that's included in the LP for The Middle Management.

There was a lot that Berryz offered with their release, and likewise, ℃-ute offer something here for the fans. They didn't get an MV, nor did they receive re-recordings of tracks that were special to them in any way. No matter what, we're going to 'lose out', but do stop whining because you feel like your group lost out; they didn't, and neither are the fans of ℃-ute.

And with that little rant over and done with, I think we need to get back on track. So, without further ado, it's time to look at some rare tracks by the one and only ℃-ute, and take a look at their ℃OMPLETE SINGLE COLLECTION!

For the final review in [℃-utie Week], let's sit down and listen to the rarest of tracks, and experience some nostalgia and delight! Put on the headphones, sit back, relax, and let the feelings flow...

Are you ready for the sweet sound of music?

[℃-utie Week] Before They Fizzle Out Like A Static Shock, Let's Live In This Dream and Experience ℃-ute's Singing Some More! 'Mugen Climax / Ai wa Maru de Seidenki / Singing ~Ano Koro no You ni~' Single Review!

We are coming to a close on our Week with ℃-ute, but please, do not fret! We still have one more post after this one, and then a collection of Graduation Appreciation posts to look forward to! It is extremely sad, however, to know that the group and their activities will soon come to a close. Until that day happens, however, let's enjoy the small time we have left with them, and listen to the beautiful music they have released.

It's time to appreciate, and feel thankful. Let's sing together, just like we used to back in the day...

I was originally going to make my penultimate post a PV Review, dedicated to Singing ~Ano Koro no You ni~, however after asking the advice of a friend, she deemed the MV too boring, and thought it best to review the single. After some thought on it, actually, I do think it is better to review the single; it's the perfect combination of ℃-utew's music style, showing off their strengths in maturity, playfulness, and nostalgia. Plus, it's their penultimate release before they disband. How could I pass up reviewing the penultimate single, for the penultimate review?

I've actually wanted to review this single, and all of its music videos, for some time now. Though I have only reviewed Mugen Climax, this was one of few releases from H!P where I felt a strong desire to look at each music video individually, and talk about them. I love them all, find them to be great quality, and damn, they all manage to fit their respective songs beautifully! But, because time is precious, and I have little of it left, I will instead focus on the music, and share with you my thoughts on the penultimate release from ℃-ute before they disband and leave our beloved Idol world.

Though we aren't looking back very far, it will still be a bittersweet tone of nostalgia that we are entering today. Before they leave us as suddenly as a static shock, let's enjoy the beauty of ℃-ute's songs, just like we did in the old days!

Let's experience a dream-like climax in music!

[℃-utie Week] Turn Life Around and Live Recklessly! 'The Middle Management ~Josei Chuukan Kanrishoku~ / Gamusha LIFE / Tsuga no Kado wo Magare' Single Review!

The celebration that is ℃-utie Week continues, and today in our fifth Review, we look back to 2015, a year of Decade Anniversaries and music! Much like the years prior, ℃-ute continued to show their passion and drive in each new song release they came out with, but this time, they brought out something a little more sentimental to commemorate 10 years together! It's a year fans will remember well, and a music release that many have loved, because it's just so wonderful and addictive!

It's time to turn the next corner, and experience a reckless life through music! Are you ready to get lost in the sound of ℃-ute?

With ℃-ute's 10th Anniversary on the horizon in 2015, the group brought out their celebratory single, and amazed fans all over. It became an instant hit, and is the groups best first day sales release since Tokai no Hitorigurashi. Even now, this is a beloved single to many fans, thanks to its varied track list, and its two stand-out songs, Gamusha LIFE and Tsugi no Kado wo Magare. Heck, even though I wasn't a big fan of the group back in 2015, even I appreciated how great this single was, and two years on, I still think it's amazing. I mean, what isn't there to like? This is one of the groups best releases, if you ask me.

Of course, favouritism doesn't come into play for why this single is on this list for my ℃-utie Week reviews; the release of this single is pivotal to the groups career, marking their 10th anniversary and showcasing just how far they had come as a unit. Originally, I intended on only reviewing the music video for Gamusha LIFE, because again, 10th anniversary, however, after re-watching the music video, I knew I wouldn't be able to gouge a lot from it for a full-on MV review. It's pretty, I enjoy it, but... it's not enough. So, I decided to go for a single review, because why the heck not?

For ℃-ute, this release hit a milestone year in their careers as an Idol group, and delivered to us listeners something amazing. In a diverse, entertaining bundle of songs, the triple A-side that is The Middle Management ~Josei Chuukan Kanrishoku~ / Gamusha LIFE / Tsuga no Kado wo Magare plays up to the strengths of H!P's finest, and further proves to us fans that, no matter how old they become or how long they have been around, they will always put their best foot forward, and show us the power that these five contain.

It's time to turn the next corner and check out the music that gives us LIFE! Are you ready? If yes, then it's time to Tsugi no Kado wo Magare, dear readers...~

[℃-utie Week] Living A Life of Vibrant Tones! Why Not? 'Tokai no Hitorigurashi' MV Review!

Day 4 of ℃-utie Week is about to begin! Continuing our journey to the past in music and video, we move toward the year 2013, a time when Hello! Project's editing team were making progress and showing us just what they could do with their music videos. With a catchy tune to accompany it, this release is by far one of the most interesting music video releases the group has ever put out.

It's time to experience some colour and energy! Why not give it a try?

I love the music video for Tokai no Hitorigurashi. It is one of my favourite PV's from ℃-ute, mostly for its colourful graphics, swish camera movements, and its energetic feel. It's an entertaining visual release, and one of the best that H!P has put out in recent years. At the time of its release, it was also one of the first Hello! Pro MV's to take on these kinds of bold, quick graphics, giving it a unique feel against the other singles. Since then, H!P have continued to use this method in future music videos, and while they have always had a knack for editing, I wholeheartedly believe that ℃-ute was the practice group for things like this.

And why not? They were the best group, performance wise, for something as savvy as this way back when. They also had the personalities and diverse music style to pull something as quirky as Tokai no Hitorigurashi off, whilst other groups at the time were stuck in the 'mature, cool' rut.

This was a refreshing change of pace at the time, and against all other releases from ℃-ute, it really does stand out as one of the more diverse and imaginative music videos out there. It's like a paint palette; it mixes and blends colours together, and creates something truly extraordinary. It's a worthwhile experience, one that I will happily keep on reliving, and it makes the video lover inside of me such a happy person.

I can only hope other people like it as much as me, of course XD

Now, before I gush even more, we're going to take a look at the music video in all its pic and gif spammy glory, and enjoy the burst of colourful delight that Tokai no Hitorigurashi brings us! For all that is fun and glorious (and because this is the video that I remember best, because it is the best), let's take a dive into this video of colour and smiles! Are you ready to have some fun?

Press play. You know you wanna! :p

[℃-utie Week] I Want to Listen to The Most Heavenly Music! - 'Aitai Aitai Aitai na' Single Review

℃-utie Week marches on, and in our third post celebrating the delight of ℃-ute comes in the form of a single review, where we will take a look at a single that celebrates the cool and intense side of the adorably named unit, as well as the surprising addition of the powerful B-side that pretty much bowled over the fandom, before earning a spot as its own A-side in a later release.

It's a slice of Heaven, if ever there was one.

Rock on, 2012. Though a bit of a slow year in terms of ℃-ute themed single releases, (they only had two. The other was Kono Machi) there is a single from that very year that stands out, for both its sound and its quality. Dispute either of those statements all you like, but for my terribly tuned ears, Aitai Aitai Aitai na is a splendid release. So, why the heck have I overlooked it before now?

Because I am an idiot, that's why. My inadequacy as a music lover is no secret, though, so yeah. There we goesy.

Of all the releases I will be reviewing this week, I admit that this is the one I have less of an attachment to. I do some have familiarity with it, for one, I remember the core sound of the leading track. I also remember some shoulder shimmies from the music video, and of course, I know one of the two coupling tracks really well. The rest, however, I forget. I couldn't recall the music video at all, nor did I remember much about the leading A-side, apart from its catchy use of the title and its chorus. It's not Campus Life; I don't remember it, ergo I do not care for it.

Oh, and it's a lot better than Kiss Me Aishiteru. Please don't hit me!

Before I further dig my grave, I'm going to take a look at ℃-ute's 19th single release, Aitai Aitai Aitai na. Is it as heavenly in sound as you had hoped it would be, or will the music leave behind a tinge of sadness once you have finished listening?

I want. I want. I want... to listen to something good today.

[℃-utie Week] A Shift in Style! Awkward Kisses and Terrible Dance Moves, Courtesy of 'Kiss Me Aishiteru' (MV Review!)

Continuing our week of celebration in the form of ℃-ute, we will take a look at 2011, a year that showed a new direction in ℃-ute's sound and look, shaking the fandom with this sudden change of pace. It was different, it was new, and it was something that a lot of us were not ready for.

But does it hold up? Let's take a look, and find out.

After questioning a few friends about which PV I should review - Kiss Me Aishiteru, or Adam to Eve no Dilemma - the one that won was, clearly, Kiss Me Aishiteru, though everyone had their reasons. Both songs and videos are clearly adored, however, this was the first music video to really shock people. It was one of the first truly 'sexy' concepts for ℃-ute, and the song itself was highly entertaining and memorable. It was a turning point for the group at the time of its release, showing them off as adults rather than kids, and it paved the way for future songs, such as Crazy Kanzen na Otona and Adam to Eve no Dilemma. It was a different tone to what everyone was used to, at least in image.

Of course, a different tone doesn't mean it's going to be good or bad, either, does it? This time around, I would say it's probably the latter, though you can feel free to disagree, as per usual.

I'm not saying that Kiss Me Aihisiteru is terrible. It isn't, but it's definitely not my favourite, and there are things going on here that just look plain boring, or feel questionable. But we will get to those details later on, after I've finished spamming you all with pictures and gifs of some choice moments from the music video itself.

It was a turning point in ℃-ute's image upon Kiss Me Aishiteru's release, and though it wasn't as signifcant to me as a follower way back when, it was a big part of ℃-ute's career,. So, looking back at one of the pivotal moments in ℃-ute's history, we're gonna put on our headphones, throw on some metallic purple hot pants, and pretend we can dance. Are you ready for a throwback?

Get yo Jelly legs on, we're doing the Kiss Me Aishiteru!

[℃-utie Week] The Beginning of Five ~Where Fandom Was Born~ - 'Campus Life ~Uamrete Kite Yokatta~' MV Review!

*To add some (un)necessary info dump: The [Week with...] series is a week-long series of posts, dedicated to graduating members or groups of Idols I enjoy / love. It is something I began with Tanaka Reina during her Graduation, in order to fully appreciate the member before she left Morning Musume. This series has continued with many other members since, in order to enjoy the releases these groups or members have been a part of, and to look back at some of their finer moments. Posts can vary from reviews, to solo song footage, birthday lives, and more, depending.

**[℃-utie Week] is a small, week-long series dedicated to the group that is ℃-ute, to commemorate one of Hello!

With only two weeks to go until the departure of one of Hello! Project's better groups, it's about time to celebrate all things ℃-ute this week here on Okay! Musume Time. And, what better way to kick-start this set of nostalgia-riddled posts, than with the music video that started it all?

And no, I'm not talking about Maasara Blue Jeans. I'm going a bit further into their career, than that. Are ya ready?

When I was thinking about this week and the posts I would do, my original intention was to delve into the extensive ℃-ute single collection, and pull out things from the very beginning. The thing is, I was not a fan then. My fandom did not start until around the Shock! era - the era where they became the five we know now. And, unlike Berryz, who lost one member and never changed since, ℃-ute has met a few more member changes, until finally coming to the Final Five. It is this form of ℃-ute that I have known and enjoyed, and so, I have made the choice to focus on only this version of the group.

It is, after all, the ℃-ute that I know best. So, apologies to all the hardcore ℃-uties out there, but I'm not going to be reviewing from the very beginning. We're starting from the middle.

Campus Life ~Umarete Kite Yokatta~ holds a lot of memories. It was the first ℃-ute song I truly enjoyed that had been released at the time I knew of them. It was also a song I played to the death, and one I danced to a lot. Before blogging, way back in the day, little Chiima at the age of 17 danced. She also danced in heels, that looked fairly similar to the ones ℃-ute are wearing in the music video, with minor success. Seriously, those were the days. I was heavily into my singing and dancing, way back when.

Fat chance you will see me doing something like that, now. It was hard back then, and I'm pretty sure I'd just fall flat on my face, now.

So, yeah, Campus Life holds some good memories for me. It's why I wanted to take a look at the song, and review it. I'm pretty sure I would have reviewed it anyway, at some point during this nostalgia week of all things ℃-ute, because it's one of my favourites, if only because I have this giant attachment of carefree delight pinned to it. It brings me joy, and again, it was one of the first ℃-ute songs at the time that I really enjoyed, that was a new release of theirs.

And because of this, today I will be taking a look at the music video for Campus Life ~Umarete Kite Yokatta~ by ℃-ute, released all the way back in 2010! 7 years ago, there were five who brought delight with this song and dance, but does it still hold up to this day? Let's take a look, and find out.

Suki, Suki, Suki~

[PV Selection] April '17

I need to get this out before I even dar think about starting off my Week for C-ute before they graduate, and well before May creeps upon us. Let's not have another March scenario, where the PV Selection is a month late, shall we...?

Another month, another post! We are back with the PV Selection for April 2017, and oh boy oh boy, what a month it was! Every dang time, there's a bunch of PV's that I enjoy watching, though let's be honest, a lot of them follow familiar formulas. I like what I like, though, so yeah... We have certain styles that we enjoy most, and hey can, ya blame a girl for liking the simple things in life?

Still, even if some music videos have similar formulas to others, it's fun to see what Idols put out for us viewers. We love to see groups and companies improve, and we like to see how the songs fit with the idea behind the PV, too. No matter how simple or complex it is, if we like it, it's a good MV!

And now, as per the usual here, all MV's listed on this post are the ones I personally enjoyed myself. This is a post where I promote the videos and groups I found most entertaining, so if there is something on here you do not enjoy, well, it's my post, my opinion. If there isn't a video on here you enjoyed, however, bear in mind that I either have not seen it, or I didn't enjoy it as much as you did. Tastes differ, and also, I'm one person! I can't and won't watch every video that comes out in the Idol realm! That's far too many for one person, especially if I have things to do in my everyday life, so... yeah. There's that.

And finally, please do enjoy the videos I post here, but don't feel obligated to like them, just cause I found them somewhat entertaining! We have distinct tastes, and we can't all enjoy the same thing. But please, give the videos a go, and enjoy some Idol goodness! Try before you decide, and all that jazz!

Se, no... VIDEO!

Adulthood Can Wait! Let's Live Freely in BONUSBaby's 'Eoreuni Doendamyeon' (If I Become An Adult) Music Video [Review!]

Adulthood can creep up on you very quickly, however, to have a carefree mindset and an innocent outlook on the world is something most adults wish they still had. To see the world through the eyes of youth, despite the corruption and dismay we may find in the everyday world we live in, is a beautiful thing to possess. Thankfully, Idols allow us to see just how bright the world can be, and the stories they spin allow us to cast away our tinted glasses for a few hours a day, giving us the freedom to experience the joys of the world in all its rich, pigmented colour and sweetness.

But sometimes, we adults don't want to grow up. So for the time being, as both an Idol fan and a legal adult, I will cast away this dreaded notion of adulthood, and enjoy myself! It's time to live carefree and happily!

We aren't even halfway through the year, and already I have two K-pop reviews on my blog! What is the world coming to!? First, there was Dreamcatcher's mesmirising Chase Me, and now we will be looking at the very opposite in BONUSBaby's If I Become An Adult (Eoreuni Doendamyeon), a cute and playful music video that feels unlike any other K-pop music video I have ever come across! So let's cast away this notion that all K-pop is cool and sexy in tone, and have a look at the sweetest sound of K-pop I have ever experienced.

As with any K-pop song and music video, this one was introduced to me, and in this case, by a reader. Balma commented on one of my PV Selection posts, requesting if I could video react to BONUSBaby's latest music video, as they felt it would be something I might enjoy due to its similarities to a Japanese Pop Music Video. After some time, I finally got around to watching the music video and reacting to it, and well... here we are. I'm going one step farther, and actually reviewing it, too. I like it that much!

It's a fun MV, what can I say? Too bad it's so damn short.

So, yeah. We're gonna talk about and take a look at another K-pop music video, this time by the cute as pie BONUSBaby. It's not my usual affair, but in a way, it is, too. So, it's time to get into the cutest K-pop group around (that I know of, at least) and check out If I Become An Adult. Are you ready for some sweet music and fun shenanigans?

Let's GO!

[Music Selection] April '17

Music is in the air, and Spring is slowly but surely coming to its end! With the warmer weather and longer days approaching, Summer is well on its way! For now, though, let's cherish the sweet sounds of Spring in Idol Music! What will our Idols deliver to us in sound today?

April 2017's Music Selection is here, and as per the usual, all music listed, whether it past, present or from the future, is placed her because I enjoy it! I want to share with everyone the music and PV's I am enjoying from the months gone by, so that you can find something new to enjoy, as well!

Of course, as my tastes are 100% my own, I do not expect everything everyone else likes to be on here, nor do I think you will like everything I enjoy! It's a matter of preference, and truth be told, my musical tastes are kind of bad in comparison to everyone else's! So, apologies if my terrible music doesn't appeal to any of you dear readers!

Now, shall we get into the music, and enjoy some sweet Idol tracks? Ready... Set...

[PV Selection] March '17

AAAAAND I am hella late with this one, and honestly, what excuse can I give this time? Deadlines... Trips abroad... Yeah, those are the two excuses I have, and I'll stick with them, cause they are the truth. I was a busy bee last month (and early this month), and yes, life trumps blogging. I did what I had to in order to keep on top of deadlines, and also to spend as much time enjoying myself as possible.

Who said I have to keep to a blog schedule? Er, me. And yet I break that promise I make myself XD Oh, welp~

Anyway, it's time! Let's talk Music Videos! Ya ready for a Month-Late March PV Selection? :p

As always, all Music Videos added to the list are subject to my opinions and personal taste! If there is something in here you dislike, or something absent that you enjoyed, chances are, I was not all that keen, or did not find it as riveting as your wonderful self. That is how taste works, my dears, but suck it up! We can't all enjoy the same thing, can we now?

Of course, what I put on here does not stop you from enjoying what you love, so I say, make a list yourself, or just share your favourites with someone via word of mouth! Sharing is caring, after all, and we should all let people know of our love for Idols! So, why not share? ;)

[Music Selection] March '17

I am always late to the ball... however am I supposed to meet Prince Charming like that!? Well, luckily I don't want a Prince or Princess Charming in my life right now, but when it comes to blogging... Yeeeah, I am always late, for one reason or another. My excuse, this time?

Anxiety and essays and last Uni days, oh my! Because good grief, life is getting busy, and I am not prepared for this onslaught of deadlines and paranoia. But life don't care about whether or not I'm ready, so, yeah.

When life comes a knockin', I gotta focus on it. So until I can make time for blogging in the wee hours of the night, writing about Idols has to wait. Ah, well~

For the sounds of March, let's march on, and find out what's been listend, and ponder on what hasn't! Let's go~

As per the damn usual, all singles, songs, tracks and album loves posted here are based on my own desires and love in terms of music and sound. If there is something on here that you hate, then dear, it is a matter of taste, and we can't help that. This is a one-woman show, and I don't ever aim to bow down to the whims and fancies of anyone but myself! Whatever I think of a song now, is my own business. I simply share what is here because I want to show you all the songs that have entertained me in the months gone by, in the hopes that you listen and potentially find a track, group or solo singer you like, too! And if our opinions and likes happen to align, well... that is purely coincidental, but awesome! YAY!

We love what we love, and we cannot change our tastes. Simply enjoy the fact that music is so universal, and that we are all unique in every way! And of course, share your love of Idol music, and spread its joy all around!

And with that said and done, it's time to march into March's music, and listen to some of the happiness (and sadness!) it has brought me, from the past, the future, and more importantly, the future! Are you ready to fill your ears with the joys of song?

Press... PLAY!

BONJOUR! I've Uploaded A Video! Whaaaat!?

This is only a quick update, with barely any words! But, whenever I happen to actually get my butt into gear and start up my videos again, I like to let you readers know, in case you like what I do or think it's a fun time to watch some idiot wota get excited on camera XD

So, yeah... I have a new video up, though it's pretty much just me saying 'Bonjour!' and letting people know I am off to France to see C-ute perform, LIVE! Ermagerd!!!

I am currently unsure when I will fully get back into making videos, but right now, I am a lot more at peace with myself, and my workload is less. That is SUPER helpful, y'all, and it means that if I go back to making videos, I will have more time, and less things to worry over. ...

There's always something to worry over, of course, but shh!

I really don't have much else to say, because whatever was needed to be said, has been. For all you readers who follow my updates, you are aware of what I'm up to. But for those who have watched my videos previously and enjoyed them, hopefully, this will satisfy you somewhat! YAY!

Until next time, guys, take care~ Love you <3

Much Love,

Bring on The Brand New Era! It's Time for A New Generation to Begin in Morning Musume 17's 'BRAND NEW MORNING'! [MV Review]

With a new generation in tow and a startling new sound, Morning Musume '17 are looking pretty damn impressive in their latest release. In both sound and look, BRAND NEW MORNING might just be able to stand the test of time. Aggressive, assertive, and downright powerful, this is one debut that has left people impressed since its preview days.

It's the dawn of a brand new era, so let's get excited!

Standing as the 63rd single from Morning Musume overall, as well as the first for former Kenshuusei members, Kaga Kaede and Yokoyama Reina, BRAND NEW MORNING is one heck of a surprise attack from Hello! Project's flagship group. With its confident sound and mesmirising MV, it feels similar a phoenix reborn in the flames after so many other releases that lacked oomph and drive. It's a welcome change, something many of us have been waiting for, and I'm happy to say that it seems this one is a majority favourite! Woohoo!

I mean, who wouldn't like it? It's fun, kick-ass, entertaining, easy to sing along with, and it makes you want to dance! It feels like one of those rare, flawless debut releases for H!P's latest power duo. In general, it just feels like a memorable debut, period. The only thing that would probably stop most people from loving this is, of course, the fact that Masaki's kind of void, here.

Thing is, you can't help that - she was on hiatus before production even began, and it would be highly unfair and downright cruel to expect her to come back just to do work, for our gratification. I am just thankful that she's feeling better and has the strength to work again.

Despite the lack of Masaki, however, I still believe this is a solid release. Morning Musume look and sound better than ever, and throughout, they are fierce and present. What more could you want? It is truly the dawn of a brand new era, and I can't wait for the 13th gen to show just what they are made of beyond their debut. But for now, let's take a look into the promising new stars of Morning Musume '17, and look at what they can bring to the group as they are now.

Let's dive in, and see what this new generation is all about!

Get Ready, A Brand New Morning Begins! Bring on Morning Musume '17's [BRAND NEW MORNING / Jealousy Jealousy]! (Single Review)

With two new faces and a brand new era ready to begin, Morning Musume '17 are ready to show off their group power in their latest release, BRAND NEW MORNING / Jealousy Jealousy, a double A-side release complete with coupling tracks! The first of its kind in a long-while, the groups 63rd single release seems to promise something more than what previous singles have offered. Whether or not it lives up to its promise, is another thing entirely.

Is this era going to be a flop just like the last one, or will we see power return to Morning Musume as they currently stand? Let's listen, and find out.

*Many thanks to the Anonymous user who requested my thoughts on this single. You requested the Tsubaki debut, and now the 13th gen debut! Hopefully, you enjoy, and everyone else who happens to come upon this piece, too! :D

I was excited for this debut. Since the horrible introduction of 12th generation (in sound; visually, it was great), I was... apprehensive, but filled with anticipation, because whilst I do like 12ki and find that they are growing nicely into the group as of late, I can't deny that 13th gen are a far better fit for the group. Both Kaede and Reina, as they are now, seem pretty confident in how they present themselves towards the camera, and both look great with the current lineup! Reina has a very cheeky, cute look that fits well with members like Masaki, Duu, Maria, Akane and Harunan, whilst Kaede's cool, mature vibe fits well with Eriman, Ayumi and Ogata. They are a balanced generation in how they look and feel, but they both seem really determined to impress, as well.

I feel like, as a generation, these two could go pretty far, and prove to be a little bit of competition for the existing senior members. At least, they could, if only management let them. We shall see...

Hopefully their future releases will prove as promising as this one, but for now, it is BRAND NEW MORNING / Jealousy Jealousy that we will focus on. The future will come along soon enough, but until that time comes, let's enjoy the dawn of a new era, and enjoy all that the 13th generation and a twelve thirteen member Morning Musume brings us...
Are you ready to press PLAY and begin a new chapter?

[PV Selection] February 2017

I would say "Kick me, this is so late!", but I have reasons. University reasons. It's getting harder, yo, and whilst I lovee Idol blogging, I know when I need to focus on life over hobbies. This was one of those times, hence the majorly late PV Selection post. But it's still March, and that means I still have the time to post this! Huzzah!

For the PV's from a month ago, let's take a look at the ones that stood out for me as a viewer in February 2017! Will there be anything on the list that you enjoyed, too?

As per the usual, all PV's listed here are the videos that I have enjoyed myself over the course of the past month. Though there are a lot of great PV's out there, I can't like all of them. This is a one woman show, guys, and if there is a video here you might have hated with all your being, or a video you adored is missing, chances are, I either didn't see it, or I didn't like it. It is how taste works.

Of course, I do want there to be something on here that you like, whether it is from a group you have previously adored, or one you have just recently been introduced to. As long as there's one video on here that peaks your intrigue... well, that's my job in sharing the wonders of Idols done!

If there is a video that you would like me to view, whether it is for the first time or again, then don't hesitate to tell me about! I might prefer something upon second viewing, or find myself a diamond in the rough I had not known existed before! It happens.

... And with that all said and done, let's get into the nitty gritty, and check out some PV's! Are ya ready, kids?

Updates In Everything

Early 2017 is proving to be a busy time of the year for me, and with recent goings-ons, I thought it was about time I updated my blog about what is happening, why I am so slow at updating and posting, and in general letting you know whatever it is I am meant to be doing in life, blogging and anything else that might warrant an explanation.

Here we go~

First and foremost, blogging. I have not done a lot of it, and not just here. On Selective Hearing, JaME and Hashire! Idol Manic, I have been lacking in my posts. I haven't touched Hashire! Idol Manic since December, and I missed February's post for Selective Hearing. This is mostly because of University pre-occupying my mind, because I have some big things going on right now. I will get to that more later, but I did want to let you know that it's not just here that is suffering a lack of posts. It's everywhere. I pretty much have less time than usual, and it is a crucial point of my University life that I am in. So, yeah.

[Music Selection] February 2017

As per usual, I am fashionably late. Well, annoyingly late might be a little more accurate, but, that's how I am; an annoyingly late blogger, who sets herself dates to stick to, that she never manages to post on. Oh, who would I be, without failing to meet a deadline, hm~

Well, it's that time of the month again, regardless of how late I am! The time where I share with all you lovely readers the music I have enjoyed from the month gone by, as well as the up-coming releases that have me all excited for March 2017! Will there be any sounds in here you have liked as well, or something new for you to try out? The only way to find out is if you read on...~

There are a number of reasons as to why this post is late, and I could list them here... but I may save it all for a post on things that have happened in life, or in blogging. We shall see. I need to update you all either way, so, when it comes, you will find out why I've been lacking. For now, however, let's summarise it to Chiima being Chiima; she just never gets things done, ya see.

Anywhoo, I won't keep you for too long. We have a post to get into, so, as per the usual, these are my thoughts, and this is my blog, meaning that everything here is in regards to my opinion, and no one else's. Don't get offended by what I enjoy, ta.

Let's Try Something Beautiful This First Sunrise! 'Hatsukoi Sunrise / Just Try! / Uruwashi no Camellia' Single Review!

This Major Debut Review was requested by an Anonymous reader and commenter! This one is for you, so please, enjoy~

I am not keeping up with the current lineup of Hello! Pro newbies. Heck, I'm having a hard enough time remembering that Juice=Juice are still around, so... yeah, me and H!P are still on rocky terms. MM are getting appealing again, C-ute are going soon (sniffsniff), Country Girls are fine so far, and Juice=Juice are forgettable. I'm still not interested in what Kobushi have to offer of the two Factory productions, and Tsubaki...

Well, Tsubaki has potential.

From the get-go, I was a little more interested in this group than Kobushi. They're a lot less polished, the girls are not immediate stars, and they were still finding their sound. Unlike Kobushi, who were thrown a bone right away because of their gem encrusted lineup, Tsubaki actually had some time to season and find their footing in concerts and sound, which is what I like to see in a newly produced group. So of course, they are sitting well with me, already.

I get sour when groups aren't given time to grow. It happened with Juice=Juice, and look at where they stand with me, now; I forget they bloody exist.

Moving on... Tsubaki intrigue me. I like the look of the lineup. I liked how bored a few of them looked in their early videos. I was intrigued by their mature sound, and how well it suited them in their testing period. Also, they are all darned cute. Yumeno is especially eye catching, Asakura Kiki is a very deserving centre with a shark-like smile that rivals Ishida Ayumi's,and Niinuma Kisora is seriously calling to me. She's a refreshing little bud of joy.

I don't know all of the members yet, but some I can definitely pin-point, with the above three being the ones I like most, and then the Knock-off Yanagawa Nanami kid (Akiyama Mao), and Budget Hamaura Ayano (Ogata Risa). The rest, I am currently unsure of, but I'm sure I'll learn their names... eventually.

One step ahead of Kobushi, that's for sure! I think the minor interest helps, too~

Hopefully after taking in their major debut and digesting it a little, I'll be able to figure out whether or not I want to keep up with them. So, that's what I will do today. We're going to give the latest Hello! Pro group a try, and see just how much they tickle my taste buds! Will these sweet Camellia's keep up with my interests, or fall as flat as the Kobushi lot have in charisma, style and vocals?

It's time to test the Major Debut! Are you ready to try the first in a line of up-coming beautiful major releases? Plug in your headphones, and give it a go! Music START~!

My One and Only! Houkago Princess Transform into Your Ideal Princess for their First Major Album Release!

Today on February 19th, Houkago Princess and Universal Music Japan unveiled the groups latest promotional artwork, and announced the release of Houkago Princesses first album release!

Titled My Princess, the album is set to release on March 22nd, and will come in two editions. The theme behind the album is 'Your Only Princess', where the members turn into your ideal Princess, instead of historical or fictional figures like before. The artwork depicts the members in ball gowns fitting of their title, creating an elegant look and feel for the up-coming release.

Houkago Princess has also announced the long overdue release of their indies best-of album, Indies Best ~Memories~, which will be released on the same day.

Included in the groups first feature-length album, My Princess, will be twelve tracks. Two of these tracks will be new additions, whilst the third will be a 2017 recording of a previously released song, featuring the current lineup of Princesses.

It will also be available in Regular and Limited editions, with both types containing the same tracks. The Limited version will, however, come with a sleeve case and a mini-photobook containing 40 pages of imagery. It has not yet been revealed whether there will be an accompanying music video, or if they will release solo cover versions for the members.

The covers for the album have also been released.
